The Problem
Consent and inspection work generates a long tail of administrative steps — version tracking, handoffs, status updates — that are individually trivial and collectively expensive.
The second problem was structural. Every request to change one of those steps became a ticket for the digital team, which meant the backlog grew with the organisation’s appetite for improvement rather than with its actual complexity.
What We Did
- Worked with business stakeholders, product owners and technical teams to gather requirements and produce solution design documentation before building.
- Automated the building inspection process and building consent version control, removing the manual administration around both.
- Introduced Microsoft Power Apps and Power Automate as governed self-service capability, so the business could own routine change without a development ticket.
- Implemented Git version control practices across the solutions, and kept the delivered work aligned to organisational governance and architecture standards.
